Item description

TAHARA AMONG AFRICAN TRIBES by Harold M. Sherman Goldsmith Publishing Co., 1933 Condition: Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket Harold Sherman wrote many types of books, though he was best-known in the field of the paranormal. But he also wrote the "Tahara" series, four adventure books for boys, all set in mysterious, thrill-producing jungle lands. This was the second title in the series; all four are listed on the front flap of the book and were apparently all first published in 1933, so it's difficult to determine the first printing. Perhaps it can be determined by the color of the covers -- it appeared in yellow,, red and green covers (this is the yellow). Goldsmith books are especially prone to showing their age, but this copy is an exception -- very nice, except for the browning of the page margins, for which I've lowered the condition grade a bit, even though it's a very common defect in Goldsmiths. Otherwise, just moderate page toning; the pages seem to be free of other defects. The exterior has some color flaking on the illustration and wording on the front cover and spine (though some of that may have been present on the book when first published); just light wear on the corners, spine ends and edges. The binding is intact and still quite firm. The jacket has some fairly modest edge wear and is encased in a Brodart jacket cover. All the "Tahara" books appear to be quite scarce; this one is especially so for the condition and in the original jacket.
