Item description

Grosset and Dunlap. Copyright 1937. Print run Carpentieri-coded 1945A-11. Cover art by Paul Laune. Author was Leslie McFarlane, using the Stratemeyer "Dixon" house pseudonym. #16 in the series. Brown book in very good condition with orange Gretta endpapers, plain frontispiece. Original 25 chapters. No internal book titles list. Tanned but not brittle war-time paper (in effect through 1948). No writing. Sturdy binding but somewhat warped spine, strong hinges without tracking. Yellow spine and "The Hardy Boys" supra-title in script. Overall nice, intact dust jacket but there's a tear at the lower front near the spine with two chips emerging from it. The rear flap crease has a vertical chipped line about an inch long at the top. Otherwise, pretty good with minimal corner wear. Front flap has a small sticker residue spot. See pictures. Some minor abrasion on the cover but nicely color-retentive. "PCJ" and "110-150" on front flap. Front flap last title is seven volumes later, The Melted Coins. Rear flap lists Lone Ranger titles to Rides Again. Rear of jacket lists 26 aviation titles. Book is now protected in removable mylar covering. (RHB-16)
