Item description

Vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card from the silent film comedy, HIS MYSTERY GIRL, released in 1923 by Universal Pictures and directed by Robert Hill. Based on a story by Marion Orth and William E. Wing, Kerry Reynolds' (Herbert Rawlinson) friends pull-off a prank by tricking him into thinking he has discovered a damsel in distress (Ruth Dwyer). After becoming involved in a sticky predicament involving a diamond necklace, he marries the girl, and a happy ending prevails for all. The cast includes Margaret Campbell, Jere Austin, Ralph McCullough, William Quinn, and Kasha Haroldi. The image features an exterior shot of Kerry Reynolds (Herbert Rawlinson) looking in astonishment at Gloria Bliss (Ruth Dwyer) as she beckons him while looking at someone or some thing off-camera. The design features a large question mark laid around the head of Miss Dwyer amidst a myriad of small question marks in the upper and lower light gray background areas. This vintage original title lobby card is unrestored in fine condition with a very light horizontal crease which starts in the center of the card to the right of Miss Dwyer's face and running down to the bottom edge (fortunately, it is not noticeable from the front); one pinhole in the top and bottom right corners only; two small creases and light signs of wear on the top left corner; and varying light signs of wear on the bottom corners. The working titles of this film were No Questions Asked and All for the Love of Gloria. A copy of His Mystery Girl is held in the George Eastman House Motion Picture Collection.
