Item description

QUEEN ELIZABETH by Gladys E. Locke Sherman, French Co., First Edition, 1913 Condition: Good Elizabeth I (1533-1603) was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. She reigned during one of England's most glorious periods, when it changed from a medieval to a modern country. This vintage biography, which sometimes reads like a novel, traces the high and low points of her life, the latter mostly before she became queen. The cover corners are rather well worn, the spine ends quite frayed, the front cover spine chafed in several spots, the edges showing moderate wear; the front free end page is missing; there are several page corner creases, 2 or 3 rather short margin tears, one page corner showing moisture staining, pencil writing on the front pastedown and markings on just a few pages. The binding is intact, though not tight. Still, an acceptable copy of this scarce first edition.
