Item description

Coralberry {Symphoricarpos Orbiculatus} Showy Ornamental | Privacy Shrub | 20+ seeds Free Shipping US Coralberry is a native dense suckering shrub that grows 2-5 feet tall and 4-8 feet wide with arching stems. It is easy to grow in average well-drained soils of various types. Coralberry adapts to partial sun, moist to dry conditions, and loamy or rocky soil. If spreading is not desired then remove the root suckers. It is commonly found in forests or natural areas of bottomland woods of eastern and central USA. This is a great shrub for naturalized areas or an informal shrub border. Plant it on a slope for erosion control. It will attract wildlife to your yard. No serious insect or disease problems. Coralberry is colonial. It does best in natural areas. It needs more than one genetic strain to fruit. The flowers of the coralberry are definitely not its most colorful feature. In fact, the small, greenish-white to pink flowers are pretty unremarkable. These bell-shaped flowers have four or five petals and bloom in the spring to summer months. It is the fruits of this plant that are showy, ripening in the fall and persisting right through the winter months. These drupes are up to about inch (6.3mm) across and coral pink to reddish-purple, giving the plant its common name. Very easy to grow and generally unfussy and trouble free. They can look a little unkempt on their own, so they are best grown as a hedge or as part of a shrubbery. Plant outside in early autumn or spring. Container grown plants can be planted out at any reasonable time of year. The best berries are produced when grow in an open sunny position. Pollution and drought tolerant once established. Useful for informal hedging. The autumn branches of S. albus laevigatus, with lush white fruits are ideal for flower arranging. Snowberry easily self-seeds and spreads by suckers, so it can become invasive if not kept in check.
