Item description

? Up for sale is an exact 9-year-old plant (#2) of Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana), a bonsai candidate. This plant stands about 2-3 feet tall and has been container-grown for multiple years with annual pruning of both branches and roots. It is being sold due to lack of space. ? The plant will be sent soil-less with roots wrapped in wet media during dormancy (September to April). After dormancy ends in April, it will be potted in soil and sent in a plastic container. The plant may be trimmed to fit within a 36-inch shipping box for secure transport. ? Chokecherry is a deciduous tree or shrub known for its astringent fruit, which varies in color from dark red/brown to deep black due to the natural diversity of seed propagation. Birds are particularly fond of its ripe fruits. Please note that this plant is grown from seedlings, so the berry color will be random, unlike cloned varieties that replicate the parent tree’s characteristics. ? Native to North America, chokecherry is hardy in USDA Zones 2-7 and can grow in Zone 10 when cultivated. Its broad, egg-shaped leaves and drooping racemes of flowers make it a visually striking choice for bonsai or landscaping. Historically, the fruit was a staple food for Indigenous tribes, often cooked or dried to reduce bitterness and remove prussic acid from the pits. ? Your plant will be sent securely in a box with a tracking number for U.S. buyers. During dormancy, it will be sent without soil, roots wrapped in moist media. After dormancy (starting in April), it will be sent in a container with soil. Your item will arrive in good condition. If any problems occur with the item while it is on the way to you, contact us the same day to describe the issue and attach pictures so we can see and address it.
