Item description
Ellis County Courthouse is a hard to find open edition print by Hugh Riker. It features the Ellis County Courthouse in Texas in a pen and ink rendering.
Image size is 9" x 12". Overall size is 11" x 14". It was published by Riker in 1981.
About the Artist:
In 1961, after a career in advertising, Hugh Riker launched his art career with a one-man exhibit at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. He taught workshops in watercolor, drawing, pen and ink, and calligraphy throughout the Southwest and Mexico, and English at the Mexican-American Language Institute in Uruappan, Mexico. His work has appeared in Arizona Highways and Ford Times. He exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico.
He was a prolific artist having drawn many of the historic Court Houses and historic buildings in Texas. He authored and illustrated many publications, including Ghost Towns and Mining Camps of Colorado, and a travel column for newspapers. His last major project was the 1999 Historic Texas Forts Calendar that he researched and worked on for a year and half before printing. At the time of his death he lived in Hamilton, Texas with his wife, Paula.
