Item description

For sale is an Elizabeth O'Neill Verner "Mellowed By Time" Print Signed Framed. Great piece from the iconic Charleston, South Carolina artist. The print in view measures 11.5" x 12.5". The entire framed piece measures 16.5" x 20.5". Gorgeous piece of art! Please note that it is marked "repro" on the bottom side. Here is the explanation about that notation from an article about Elizabeth O' Neill Verner: "If you are buying a Verner etching, watch for one thing. Some of them are signed in pencil by Verner but have the word "repro" under the name. I have seen many of these and, in general, I have known that they are not considered originals, but I called Verner's grandson to get the details. He told me that in the 1940?s her prints were so popular that she started producing reproductions, signed by her, but noted as reproductions. This means the prints were not pulled off the original plate. The signatures are authentic. He also told me that some unsigned works are in the marketplace, but they are also reproductions. Although she eventually remarried, I have never seen any signature other than "Elizabeth O'Neill Verner." " Thank you for looking! Purchase with confidence as a 30 day return period is offered on all items. Please check out my store for more unique items!
