Item description

This listing is for 20 Echinacea pallida, purple coneflower seeds. We keep this one in our gardens for medicinal purposes. Echinacea is an extremely powerful medicine containing many useful plant chemicals including polysaccharides, glycoproteins, alkamides, volatile oils, and flavonoids. pfaf.org says: "Echinacea pallida has a general stimulatory effect on the immune system and is widely used in modern herbal treatments. In Germany over 200 pharmaceutical preparations are made from Echinacea. The roots and the whole plant are considered particularly beneficial in the treatment of sores, wounds, burns etc, possessing cortisone-like and antibacterial activity. The plant was used by N. American Indians as a universal application to treat the bites and stings of all types of insects. An infusion of the plant was also used to treat snakebites. The plant is adaptogen, alterative, antiseptic, depurative, diaphoretic, digestive, sialagogue. The entire plant is harvested in the autumn and dried for later use. The German Commission E Monographs, a therapeutic guide to herbal medicine, approve Echinacea for common cold, cough and bronchitis, fevers and cold, urinary tract infections, inflammation of the mouth and pharynx, increase resistance to infection, wounds and burns." The Tea Tastes exactly like Good Sun Flower tea. University of Maryland Medical Center suggest adults doses as follows: For general immune system stimulation, during colds, flu, upper respiratory tract infections, or bladder infections, choose from the following forms and take 3 times a day until you feel better, but not for more than 7 – 10 days: 1 – 2 grams dried root or herb, as tea 2 – 3 mL of standardized tincture extract 6 – 9 mL of expressed juice (succus) 300 mg of standardized, powdered extract containing 4% phenolics Tincture (1:5): 1 – 3 mL (20 – 90 drops) Stabilized fresh extract: 0.75 mL (15 – 23 drops) Apply creams or ointments for slow-healing wounds as needed. The plant is threatened in Tennessee and Wisconsin and isn't in most states. Lets do our part and help spread this one around. Every human should have this in their medicine garden. Having it on hand increases the quality of our lives by keeping us well. This may be one of the most potent medicine there is. Be Well, and Thank you for looking. -Dave
