Considered one of the great masterworks of German silent cinema, DIE NIBELUNGEN: SIEGFRIED was produced in Germany in 1924 and directed by Fritz Lang. This vintage original still photograph was printed for the film's original U.S. release from the original German glass negative. The image depicts a group of men, some carrying torches, crossing the wooden drawbridge of King Gunther of Burgundy's castle while several of the men bear the weight of a coffin carrying the body of the slain Siegfried upon their shoulders.
