Item description

$44.00 plus $13.20 shipping URANINITE BLACK URANIUM MINERAL ROCK $44.00 plus shipping 12.1 oz weight 171 gm weight AMERICA'S MOST FAMOUS URANIUM MINE: CHARLIE STEEN'S MI VIDA MINE, Lisbon Valley UT The rock was found, April 2017, at ground surface, 20 miles N.W. from Grants NM. In 1952, geologist Charlie Steen applied his geological discovery theory at his "Mi Vida Mine" and found an enormous untouched deposit of black pure uranium. This type of valuable uranium was already known in central Europe as "pitchblende," but Charlie Steen renamed it as uraninite. During the next ten years, geologist Charlie gained 130 million dollars at his mine (a $billion in today's money). His town of Moab UT became known as a wealthy town; Steen held annual parties for the entire town, paid from his uranium fortune. He donated generously to local schools and charities, and served three years in the Utah State Senate. Whoever buys this uraninite rock will get a copy of a 90 minute DVD video, Moab's Uranium Craze. Today, Moab's uranium boom has ended but it has now become a center for mountain biking, being surrounded by three red-rock national parks. A Bicron Analyst geiger instrument and a standard 44-9 pancake probe assisted in this rock's discovery. The rock was found on the ground surface, at the uranium field 20 miles N.W. of Grants NM. The rock's activity level is in the faster range, relative to other similar natural rocks and above that of FiestaWare orange plates. Its measured response rate, 135,000 cpm, is approximately 4.5 times that detected from Fiesta Ware ceramic dinner plates crafted during the FiestaWare uranium era, 1936- 1943. The several white dots, seen in photos, identify surface area locations with fastest activity. Weight of rock: 12.1 oz WHAT TYPE OF MINERAL IS THE ROCK? It is very likely uraninite. Advice from any geologists who can identify this ore more precisely will be appreciated. This handsome rock was made in USA! HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE OF BLACK URANINITE URANIUM Czechoslovakia in central Europe had huge reserves of uraninite uranium during the early years of WWII, and these reserves, known as "pitchblende," were available to Hitler and the German Nazis. This became known to U.S. intelligence, and it made America's Manhattan Project (1942-45) especially urgent. Later, around 1950-1970, uraninite was the top ore in geologist Charley Steen's most famous uranium mine 30 miles S.E. of Moab Utah, the Mi Vida Mine. SOURCES: 1947 Hollywood movie: Manhattan Project - Beginning or the End; also 1965 set of three 16mm color films, Uranium Craze at Moab Utah. BONUS 40-MINUTE DVD VIDEO, NOT FOUND ON YOUTUBE! Enclosed with the uranium rock will be my original DVD video disk dated March 2017 and July 2019. This 40-minute video provides a narrated video tour of the NM locale where many rocks can be found through prospecting. This exclusive DVD video program is enclosed at no extra cost. (This video is NOT to be uploaded to YouTube.) ACTIVITY LEVELS OF THE ROCK This rock was measured with a pancake probe on a Ludlum 2200 ratemeter / scaler, the most accurate geiger instrument available. The terms LOW / MIDDLE / HIGH activity are by comparison only with other natural uranium rocks; these terms DO NOT compare any of the rocks with medical, industrial, or military applications. ALL FEDERAL AND POSTAL REGULATIONS ARE FOLLOWED These regulations allow rock collectors to own and to mail natural uranium rocks. The federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) owns uranium fields and allows hobbyist "rock hounds" to gather rocks at those fields. The rocks must be properly labeled, and must be double-boxed when mailed. The federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) does not allow any manufacturing from the rocks without an advance NRC license. The rock parcels can be mailed to addresses within the USA but are NOT allowed to be exported to any foreign country. SHIPPING COST: ONLY THE ACTUAL USPS POSTAGE Some sellers conceal the actual postage cost; If the actual postage cost is $0.20 or more below what you paid, I will fully refund the amount overpaid to your account, as soon as the package is mailed.
