These are a very unusual pair of earrings in their form. They are of Chinese origin and date from the 1900's - 1920's. They are crafted from Sterling silver with a gold gilt. The amazing blue is the feather of a Kingfisher bird. This technique was referred to as tian-tsui. Only the high ranking ladies were allow to adorn them selves with such beautifully colors kingfisher jewels. These earrings consist of a three dimensional disc which is decorated with feathers on both sides. In the center is a tiny articulated filigree flower with the center adorned with the same feathers. A simple chain connects the disc to the flower top which is also three dimensional with the outer petals of the flower being decorated with the feathers. The center of the top flower is a painted red dot... They are gilt in gold but are sterling silver with butterfly backings see photos for condition description.
