There are some pin holes in the glaze created during the firing process. It looks aged and very colorful. This Chinese Ginger Jar vase is decorated in multi-colors and multi-patterns. There is a main panel design on each side and features what looks to be a bird. All over the vase are small areas of patterns that seem to hold the attention of the viewer. I personally am amazed at the intricacies of the pattern work and the imagination of the artists who created the surface designs. Each area of patterning is painted and then raised outlining was applied. The vase not only has visual appeal but also tactile appeal. It looks mysterious as though it was an object that was created centuries ago, and reflects the nature of an antique without being an antique. This would go well in an oriental decor or as an interesting accent in an office. There a few places with chips. And there are also a few places where the glaze was not complete in manufacturing which caused holes in the surface. There are also places where crazing is present and the painting is irregular. This adds to the antique handmade feel and look of this vase. The gold on the knob on top of the vase is wearing thin which also adds to the aged look of the vase. We are suggesting that this can be used as a curio piece because of the chip. Simply turn it towards the back of your curio or a wall if you choose to put this on a side table.
