This seed is very easy to grow to a mature evergreen tree, though it does require a warm environment so is best suited for indoors, or a well protected planting.
You can grow in a pot or plant outside. Prune heavily to grow as a bonsai!
They are able to reach 10 - 12 metres tall, although generally they are around 3-5 metres, and are much less for a bonsai :-)
Growing Seed
*****************
Soak in between moist paper towels for 2 days before planting.
Use a well draining soil mixture and plant the seeds at a depth of about 1 1/2". Keep warm and in bright light with high humidity. Keep soil lightly moist - not soaking wet.
Should germinate in about 2/3 weeks
The tree should produce cashew apples after 2/3 years, the cashew nut seed is formed unusually externally underneath the fruit - see photo
