Brand new factory sealed dvd doesn't indicate the aspect ratio so I assume it is full screen or letterboxed at best. The title character is based on the Japanese blind samurai, Zatoichi.
Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being produced
BLINDMAN begins with the title character riding into a desert town to meet his business partner, Skunk. Tony Anthony is the philosophical hero 'Blindman', hired to deliver 50 mail-order brides to the miners of Lost Creek, Texas. But Skunk has actually sold the women to a Mexican outlaw named Domingo. The women are to be used as whores for the Mexican Army in a bordello run by Domingo's sister who is known as Sweet Mama.
Although the sensible Blindman recognizes that he lives in a merciless world full of betrayals and double-crosses, he still believes in contracts and asks Domingo to give him back his 50 women. This approach does not work, but Blindman doesn't give up easily. He learns that Domingo's brother, Candy (Ringo Starr), is obsessed with a young woman named Pilar, and Blindman attempts to use this to his advantage. He will go to any lengths to get the 50 brides back, no matter how high the odds are stacked against him.
Much dark humour is present in the film, often at Blindman's expense, but his blindness also adds genuine suspense to several sequences, especially when he's trying to locate a weapon before a momentarily stunned foe can regain his senses or when he lures his enemies into an abandoned mine where he knows his lack of sight will be less of a disadvantage.
Shot in Spain, this was a hit practically everywhere but in the US (where it was released by 20th Century Fox). It was a product of the same company that backed 'El Topo' and the 3-D movie 'Comin' at Ya!' (which reused the 'Blindman' plot) and also starred Anthony.
