Item description

"American Pintails" by William J. Koelpin - 1982 Wisconsin Waterfowl Duck Stamp Print, artist signed with matching $3.25 1982 Waterfowl Hunting and Conservation Stamp from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Part of a 2300 S/N print release published in 1982. It's hard to find vintage stamp prints like this one that are still in near mint condition, in their original folders, and have never been framed. Image size of the print is 6 1/2" X 9" and overall size, including the white border, is 12' X 14" About the Artist: William J Koelpin 1938-1996 A touch of humor?a bit of nostalgia. A Wisconsin native, William J. Koelpin's unique way to view the life and laughter of the great outdoors brought an unmatched approach to the character of hunters and wildlife, past and present. Koelpin was devoted to sporting art with precise depictions of hunting wildlife, and nautical scenes. Growing up outside of Milwaukee, Koelpin was an avid hunter and fisher. Teaching himself through field studies and a few life drawing classes in college, he often painted and carved during his down time as a firefighter. Koelpin became a full time artist in 1974 shortly after selling all of his work at a Midwest Carvers Collectors meeting. He quickly became known for his realistic wood carvings, paintings and bronzes.
