The film follows Mitch Rapp (O'Brien), a grief-stricken student who joins an elite undercover branch of the CIA after his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack. Following the completion of his intense training, Mitch is assigned by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) to work with experienced operative Stan Hurley (Keaton) on a mission to find out who is behind a series of seemingly random attacks on a number of military and civilian targets.
