Item description

(2) Two Antique Cabinet Card Photographs. The young woman is identified as Alice Curtis and the photo was taken in a studio in Gardiner, Maine. The photo of the older woman and the baby depicts Nettie (Wakefield) Curtis. We have been able to identify the baby as Lorena Carmon (sp?) from a similar photo sold separately. (Note: Another photo in our inventory from this estate, sold separately, depicts Herman E. Carmon (sp?) at the age of two years old and dated December 25, 1916. It was taken in a studio in Augusta, Maine.) Measure approximately 5 x 6.5 and 6 x 7 including mounts. Condition: These are original photographs which came from the same estate, not a copy or reproduction. They are in very good condition except the "Nettie" photo is a bit light in contrast and the image of Alice has some age spotting. Comments: These photos originally came in a collection of images (sold separately) which included surnames Wakefield, Curtis, and Carmon (sp?) An online genealogy source indicates Nettie's maiden name was Wakefield and that she married Clarence H. Curtis about 1877 in Maine. She was born ca. 1858 in West Gardiner, Maine and he was born about 1853 and died after 1930 in Farmingdale, Maine. Nettie was later married to Maynard A. Hardy. She was the daughter of Joseph N. Wakefield (1826-1901) and his wife Mary J. Philpot (1834-1903). A copy of the information will be provided with the purchase of this photo.
