Brand new factory sealed dvd set of the 4 Airport films which is Out Of Print (OOP) and no longer being manufactured.
AIRPORT: Burt Lancaster, the general manager of Lincoln International Airport, is having an affair with Jean Seberg. His wife (Dana Wynter) wants a divorce, Van Heflin is threatening a jet in flight with a bomb, Helen Hayes is a stowaway, and the weather's terrible.
Burt's brother-in-law, the pilot (Dean Martin), finds out his lover, stewardess Jacqueline Bissett, is pregnant, and the bomb goes off in the bathroom. Details the reactions of passengers and crew as they cope with impending doom, can they land safely? This maverick disaster movie was a box office smash and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture.
The cast includes George Kennedy, Barry Nelson, Whit Bissell, Maureen Stapleton, Barbara Rush, Lloyd Nolan, Virginia Grey, and Barbara Hale. It launched the '70s disaster film genre and led to the following three sequels.
AIRPORT 1975: This happens to be better than the original in that it doesn't get bogged down by all the subplots of 'Airport' and concentrates more on the action.
A private plane crashes into the flight deck of a jumbo 747 killing or disabling its crew. A stewardess (Karen Black) pilots the plane by following radioed flight instructions, and then a rescue pilot (Charlton Heston) is lowered from an Air Force helicopter into the gaping cockpit hole in the plane.
Meanwhile, a young kidney patient grows weaker, a drunk accosts the pilot, Gloria Swanson dictates the finishing touches on her autobiography, and George Kennedy, (promoted from his operations command in 'Airport') has a wife and daughter on board.
AIRPORT '77: Billionaire James Stewart fills his converted passenger jet with priceless art and sets off to Palm Beach for a museum opening, joined by an uninvited gang of hijackers. They gain control of the plane from pilot Jack Lemon, but in their attempt to avoid radar they accidently ditch the airplane in shallow water of the Bermuda Triangle. The novel approach here is the bad time in the air is underwater.
Also with Brenda Vaccaro, Lee Grant, George Kennedy, Joseph Cotten, Darin McGavin, Olivia deHavilland, and Christopher Lee as a hero.
CONCORDE: Airport '79: Journalist Maggie Whelan (Susan Blakely) discovers that her married boyfriend, Kevin Harrison (Robert Wagner), leads a company involved in illegal arms sales. To stop her from going public, Harrison decides to kill her by bringing down the Concorde she is taking from Paris and Moscow. It is up to pilots Paul Metrand (Alain Delon) and Joe Patroni (George Kennedy) to keep the plane aloft and intact in the face of repeated missile attacks from jets sent by Harrison.
