Triple bill of sci-fi adventures. 'A.I.' is directed by Steven Spielberg, and based on an unrealised project developed by the late Stanley Kubrick, The film tells the story of David (Haley Joel Osment), the first lab-built artificial child capable of feeling real emotions. David is adopted by Monica and Henry Swinton (Frances O'Connor and Sam Robards), a couple whose own biological child has been placed in cryogenic suspension awaiting a cure for a currently fatal medical condition. The Swintons seem to adapt well to the new child in their lives, but when their own son is cured and sent home, it jeopardises David's position in the family and he soon finds himself all alone on a dangerous adventure in the outside world. In the 2002 version of H.G. Wells' 'The Time Machine', when turn-of-the century scientist Alexander Hartdegen (Guy Pearce) uses his newly-invented time machine to travel back and prevent the murder of his girlfriend Emma (Sienna Guillory), he finds that he is nonetheless unable to change the past. Curious as to why this is, Alexander travels into the future to investigate. What he finds is a society divided between the peaceful Eloi and the powerful, predatory Morlocks; sheltered by young Eloi woman Mara (Samantha Mumba), the scientist and his machine are soon caught up in a life and death struggle for the future of the human race. Whilst in 'Eight Legged Freaks', when Chris McCormick (David Arquette) returns to his Arizona home town after ten years away, the last thing he expects to find is an infestation of giant spiders. Nevertheless, thanks to chemical spillage in the river, that is indeed what he does find. Teaming up with Sam Parker (Kari Wuhrer), a former girlfriend who is now the town sheriff, and her spider-expert son Mike (Scott Terra), Chris does what he can to fight the eight-legged threat and make sure all the local people are safe. However, when the spiders invade the mall, the townsfolk's only course of retreat is through a tunnel into some nearby mines, the very place where the giant female spider has made her lair. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
