This strain is the true "wild oregano" found originally in Greece. With a stronger, more intense flavor than the regular commercially grown oregano (Origanum vulgaris) which is a culinary compromise because it is very uniform and easy to farm. This strains (Origanum vulgaris hirtum) flavor is very, very intense and very aromatic. It kinda grows at it's own pace. One branch might mature, while the others are a little behind or ahead. A bushy perennial with deep purple-brown stems and 1 1/2" broadly ovate leaves that often have a red flush when mature. Branched clusters of small white flowers appear all summer.
