Item description

2022 SEYMOUR PANTHER 1 oz 0.999 SILVER PROOF COIN 1st RELEASE IN ROYAL TUDOR BEASTS SERIES A new 10 coin series from the Royal Mint The day after Henry VIII had his 2nd wife, Anne Boleyn, beheaded he became engaged to Jane Seymour and they were married 10 days later. The SEYMOUR PANTHER is one of the 10 "KING'S BEASTS" present at the Great Gatehouse of Hampton Court Palace, a residence of King Henry VIII Jane Seymour (3rd of 6 wives). Why does the Seymour panther have spots? The 10 King's Beasts were originally commissioned by King Henry VIII while he was still married to Anne Boleyn to honor their families. The LEOPARD was one of the animals on Anne Boleyn's Coat of Arms. After Anne's demise King Henry VIII had the statues honoring her repurposed to erase her memory and honor Jane Seymour. The Boleyn Leopard was modified to become the Seymour Panther - however the Leopards spots remain.
