Item description

The Thunderbirds are the United States Air Force's Air Demonstration Squadron, formed in 1953. In the 1960s, they were a prominent aerobatic team known for their precision flying and thrilling airshow performances. They used various aircraft during the decade, including the F-100 Super Sabre, which was notable as the first supersonic jet used by the Thunderbirds. Their mission was to showcase the capabilities of modern military aviation, inspire recruitment, and represent the professionalism of the U.S. Air Force to the public. Major Neil Eddins was a key figure in the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds during the 1960s. He served as the slot pilot from 1959 to 1960 and returned as the team's commander and lead pilot from 1967 to 1968. Under his leadership, the Thunderbirds performed numerous airshows, demonstrating the capabilities of the Air Force's aircraft and pilots. Eddins' contributions significantly enhanced the team's reputation during that era. Leader: Maj. Neil Eddins Left Wing: Capt. Chris Patterakis Right Wing: Maj. Stan Musser Slot: Capt.
