Item description

This is a vintage, blue wicker rattan rocking baby doll cradle with original gauzy lace netting canopy. The antique doll bed likely dates to the late 1930s or early 1940s. From online photos of similar cradles, I am pretty sure this old doll cradle was made by Effanbee for their Dy-Dee Baby Doll. The World War II era doll was sold with a cradle and layette that match this bassinet. This doll belonged to my aunt (time frame fits) and has been in our attic for as long as I can recall (1960s). The antique cradle definitely shows signs of a child's love... its a little lopsided and the paint is worn in spots. The old canopy is very worn and dirty from years of sitting in an old attic. (Its exceedingly rare for these old canopys to still exist at all!) The toy bed measures about 13" long, 11.5" tall and 9" wide. It was probably intended to fit a 10" or 9" doll.
