1492 - Conquest of Paradise/Grey Owl/Flight of the Phoenix DVD (2007) Pierce Title: 1492 - Conquest of Paradise/Grey Owl/Flight of the Phoenix Leading Actor: Pierce Brosnan Region: Region 2 Duration: 374 mins Format: DVD / Normal Type: DVD No. of Discs: 3 disc(s) Studio / Publisher: TCFHE UK Release Date: 28 May 2007 Triple bill containing three adventure movies. In '1492 - Conquest of Paradise' (1992), Gerard Depardieu stars as Christopher Columbus in Ridley Scott's biopic of the famous explorer. In the late fifteenth century, Columbus persuades the Queen of Spain (Sigourney Weaver) to fund his latest expedition to the East by searching out new trade routes on the way. Inadvertantly arriving in the Americas, Columbus attempts to civilise the natives and live in harmony with them, but his efforts are sabotaged by a crew intent on plundering all the New World has to offer. In 'Grey Owl' (2000), Pierce Brosnan stars as Grey Owl in Richard Attenborough's true story of a 1930s Ojibwa Indian from the Canadian wilderness. Owl became infamous for his adventures where he used to exploit the wilderness for his own profit, including raping the forests using high-explosives. However, when he meets and falls in love with a native Mowhawk-Indian, Pony (Annie Galipeau) his whole perspective on life changes and begins to understand the true meaning of his and Pony's lives and the damage to the environment he has caused. He goes on a mission to give lectures and write books on the forthcoming destruction of the natural planet, travelling to North America and England to spread the word where he soon becomes a celebrity. 'Flight of the Phoenix' (2005) revolves around the plight of Captain Frank Towns (Dennis Quaid), a pilot whose C-119 cargo plane full of oil workers could not withstand the violent winds of a desert sandstorm. Stranded in the harsh terrain of Mongolia's Gobi Desert, Frank and his navigator face a challenge in maintaining order among the survivors. The group of oilmen had planned on an uneventful trip to shut off a group of rigs falling below their productivity expectations - not fending for their very lives. Before long, some men are revealed as cowards, while others exhibit a surprising show of strength, all the while hoping that the wreckage of the original plane can be salvaged. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
