Item description

Vintage original 7 x 9 in. program from THE MASQUER'S "DINNER TO THE WINNER," held on Thursday, April 24, 1952. This event was a tribute dinner in honor of: HUMPHREY BOGART (Best Actor, 1951, The African Queen) KARL MALDEN (Best Supporting Actor, 1951, Street Car Named Desire) and GEORGE STEVENS (Best Director, 1951, A Place in the Sun) Consisting of 4 pages, the front cover depicts an illustration of Humphrey Bogart as "Charlie Allnutt" from his Oscar-winning performance. It is in fine+ condition as shown. The Masquers Club is a private social club for actors in Los Angeles, California. It was created in 1925 by actors from New York City who had left Broadway to act in motion pictures. It was similar to the Lambs Club in New York. The Club produced thirteen short subjects, the most famous of which, The Stolen Jools, featured seven Oscar-winning performers. Raymond Griffith died there in 1957.
