Item description
Vintage original 12 x 18 in. US 4-page pressbook from the 1920's silent film comedy/drama, THANKS FOR THE BUGGY RIDE, released in 1928 by Universal Pictures and directed by William A. Seiter. Based upon a story by Byron Morgan, Jenny (Laura La Plante), a dance instructor, accidentally meets Joe Hall (Glenn Tryon), a song promoter who escorts her home. She gives him a song idea by saying "Thanks for the Buggy Ride". The cast includes Richard Tucker, Kate Price, Jack Raymond, Trixie Friganza, Lee Moran, and David Rollins.
This pressbook, which consists of 4 pages (we believe it is complete, although the pages are not numbered), has one horizontal and one vertical fold. It is in very fine- condition with light signs of random wear on the edges. As it is folded, it will be safely shipped in a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope.
Thanks for the Buggy Ride was a Universal Jewel Production. Lacking its own theater chain, Universal devised a 3-tiered branding system to market its product to independent theater owners: Red Feather (low budget programmers), Bluebird (mainstream releases), and Jewel (prestige releases designed for potential higher roadshow ticket pricing). This system ended in late 1929.
