Item description

Vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the 1940's comedy/mystery, THE CORPSE CAME C.O.D., released in 1947 by Columbia Pictures and directed by Henry Levin. When a dead body turns up in the home of a famous actress, two reporters (George Brent, Joan Blondell), who also happen in be in love with one another, compete to get the real scoop. As indicated in the lower right corner of the image area, this is scene card #2 from the set of 8 cards. The image features one of the film's more dramatic scenes as reporter Joe Medford (George Brent) makes a telephone call to announce the discovery of a dead man at the home of a famous actress while Mitchell Edwards (Grant Mitchell) looks at the corpse with bewilderment. The color tints are rich and vibrant and the film's title is rendered over a lime green background. Printed for the film's original 1947 US theatrical release, this vintage original lobby card is unrestored and in very good condition with some areas of light smudging or surface grit in the borders; a one pinhole in the top of the image area at the left side with one set of staple holes at the top right corner of the image area; two sets of staple holes in the left border and one in the credits box; and light signs of wear on the corners. The color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading. As an inside joke, there is a reference in the film to the name "Archie Leach," which was the real name of movie icon Cary Grant.
