Vintage original shrink-wrapped complete set of 8 (eight) lobby cards from the popular 2000's fantasy comedy, HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, released in 2000 by Universal Pictures and directed by Ron Howard. Based upon the book by Dr. Seuss, inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville, wherein live the Whos, an almost-mutated sort of Munchkin-like people who all love Christmas. Just outside of their beloved town lives the Grinch (Jim Carrey), a nasty creature that hates Christmas and plans to steal it from the Whos, which he equally abhors. Little Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen) decides to befriend the Grinch.The cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Molly Shannon, Clint Howard, Josh Ryan Evans, and Anthony Hopkins. The format of lobby cards was discontinued in the US in the mid-1980's, they are still printed for use in other countries. This complete set of 8 (eight) 11x14 in. US lobby cards was printed for distribution by United International Pictures. It was never used and is still in the original plastic shrink-wrap in very fine condition. The shrink-wrap at the bottom right corner is missing and there are very light signs of wear on that corner on each card. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws. PLESE NOTE that the accompanying photograph in this listing IS NOT that of the actual set you will receive, as we do not want to remove it from the original plastic shrink-wrap. According to Rick Baker, the prosthetic make-up Jim Carrey wore took about two hours to apply and one hour to remove. Due to an appearance from Carrey in The Graham Norton Show, he felt so confined and uncomfortable in the latex skin that he sought counseling from a CIA agent who taught him torture-resistance techniques. Producer and director Ron Howard was so thankful for Jim Carrey putting up with the uncomfortable hours to apply his make-up that during filming he put on the Grinch suit with full make-up and directed one day with the suit on. He intended this to be a show of appreciation to Carrey. However, when Carrey saw Howard in full Grinch outfit, he was angered, believing it was a stunt double who "looked nothing like him."
