Item description
Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the early Silent Era career of actor FRANK BENNETT. The image depicts a medium shot of the handsome actor wearing a tuxedo and posing in front of a white studio backdrop. On the verso in light black ink is the original rubber stamp indicating the "Triangle-Fine Arts" studio. Printed on a single-weight stock with a glossy finish, this vintage original photograph is in near-fine condition with a light 1.75 in. diagonal crease on the top right corner; two 0.25 in. horizontal creases below Bennett's left eye; and various small surface blemishes that are not creases and are in various parts of the image.
The career of Frank Bennett spanned from 1912-1919 and one of his most famous roles was that of Charles IX, King of France, in D.W. Griffith's masterpiece, Intolerance (1916), considered by many to be the greatest American silent film ever made. Bennett appeared in such films as Casey at the Bat (with DeWolf Hopper Sr.), Reggie Mixes In (with Douglas Fairbanks) (all 1916) and The Little Yank (1917), with Dorothy Gish.
