Item description
This is a vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the popular 1960's espionage-themed adventure comedy, FATHOM, released in 1963 by 20th Century-Fox and directed by Leslie Martinson. Based upon the novel by Larry Forrester, in Spain, an American skydiver is recruited by Western intelligence agents to recover a lost atomic bomb detonator from hostile foreign agents. The cast includes Tony Franciosa, Raquel Welch, and Robert Fraser.
As indicated in the center of the bottom border, this is lobby card #8 from the set of 8 cards. The image depicts Fathom Harvill (Raquel Welch) lying on the ground in a bullfighting arena in Spain as a man runs to help her. It is unrestored in good- conditon only with a light Canadian censor stamp near the top right corner; signs of wear in the borders; one pinhole in the top border and one in the "t" within the film's title near the bottom; and some small creases.
Fathom's name was an amalgam of the first names of the character's uncles who were called (in order of the letters in Fathom's name) Freddie, Arthur, Tom, Harry, Oscar, and Milton.
