Item description

Vintage original 7.5 x 9.5 in. U.S. deluxe double-weight photograph by the Hartsook Studio, matte finish, inscribed by Bryant Washburn, very fine condition. The popular and enduring motion picture actor BRYANT WASHBURN enjoyed a very long career spanning from 1911 to 1947. Offered here is a beautiful vintage original delxue double-weight portrait photograph taken by the famed Hartsook Studios which depicts the handsome actor from very early in this career. He is seen wearing a dark suit with a tie and posing in front of a white backdrop. An area around either side of his face has been airbrushed with a light grey color to add texture to the background and creates a very nice effect. This photograph has been signed in white fountain pen ink by Mr. Washburn in 1915 during his tenure at Essanay as follows: Very sincerely yours - Bryant Washburn - 1915 within the lower portion of the image. Printed on double-weight stock with a matte finish, this vintage original deluxe double-weight photograph is in very fine condition with only light signs of rounding on the corners. Silent Cinema Inc. (the seller here) guarantees the authenticity of Mr. Washburn's inscription and signature. Born Franklin Bryant Washburn (April 28, 1889 – April 30, 1963), Bryant Washburn was an American film actor. He appeared in 330 films between 1911 and 1947. Washburn was a noted stage actor who appeared in short films and feature-length films for the Essanay Film Manufacturing Company, playing alternately heroes and villains. He graduated to bigger roles after joining Paramount in 1918, either as romantic leads in second features or as supporting actor in A-grade productions. By the time sound pictures arrived, he had lost his looks and was relegated to minor or bit parts. He died from a heart attack in Hollywood. His interment was located in Culver City, California's Holy Cross Cemetery. His son, Bryant Washburn, Jr. (1915 – 1960), was also an actor, a major in the US Air Force Reserve, served during World War II and Korea, and predeceased him.
