Item description

Vintage original 8 x 10 in. single-weight glossy photograph from the British 1940s drama/romance thriller, THE ADVENTURES OF TARTU, released in 1943 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and directed by Harold S. Bucquet. The image depicts an interior shot inside of a soundstage at Islington Studios in England. Star Robert Donat, in uniform, is to the right of director Harold S. Bucquet. Left to right: Bill Dodds (Assistant Director); Ho Harcourt (Script Clerk); William McLeod (Cameraman); Jack Cox (Cameraman); Robert Donat; and Terry Hunt (Assistant Cameraman). On the verso is the original printed caption which describes the image. It is in very fine condition as shown. Provenance: The Hearst Herald Examiner newspaper archive. The Adventures of Tartu (alternate British title and American release title: Sabotage Agent, also known as Tartu) is a 1943 British Second World War spy film directed by Harold S. Bucquet and starring Robert Donat. It was a morale booster of the era portraying Nazis as highly corruptible due to their desire to seduce women and to gain personal advancement.
