This is a new type of coffee maker for me. It has a thermal pot, so your coffee will never "burn", the maker doesn't sit on all day, the plate doesn't get burned up. You just put hot water in the thermos while you add coffee grounds, then pour out the hot water and place carafe on maker. Add your cold water inside, push a button, a quickly you have your first cup of coffee.
The other big reason I love this..the carafe has a lid on it that does not spill your coffee all over the counter while pouring!
