*Tod Browning' THE UNKNOWN (1927) Circus and similar items

Vintage 8x10 in. U.S. single-weight glossy restrike photograph (not a vintage original photograph printed at the time it was taken but which was printed from the original negative at a later time) from the classic silent film horror drama/romance, THE UNKNOWN, released in 1927 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by Tod Browning. A criminal on the run (Lon Chaney) hides in a circus and seeks to possess the beautiful daughter (Joan Crawford) of the ringmaster at any cost. The cast includes: Norman Kerry, Nick Ruiz, John George, Frank Lanning, Louise Emmons, Italia Frandi, Venezia Frandi, Julian Rivero, Billy Seay, John St. Polis. The image features a dramatic interior/exterior shot at a circus camp as the vicious owner (Nick Ruiz) threatens Cojo (John George), a dwarf who is always the brunt of the other man's cruelty. Printed most likely in the 1950's or 1960's, this vintage restrike photograph was printed from the original negative, so it features extremely sharp detail and great contrast. It is in very fine- condition with light random signs of light wear on the top corners. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, or other flaws.
