In the year 2065, life on Earth is threatened by aliens who steal energy from all living things on the planet. A team of scientists, led by Aki Ross (Ming Na) and Dr. Sid (Donald Sutherland) are at odds with the military who want mutual destruction, in the form of General Hein (James Woods) over how to deal with the creatures. Led by a strange dream and guided by her mentor Dr. Sid, Aki struggles to collect the eight spirits in the hope of creating a force powerful enough to destroy the alien presence, and yet pure enough to protect the planet.
