COVER: Few national holidays stir the hearts of Americans everywhere more than July 4, Independence Day, the birthday of our country. This year in Scouting we can visibly demonstrate our patriotism with simple but impressive flag ceremonies and by expressing concern for those who are prisoners of war in North Vietnam. (See Rally Round the Flag, Boys" in the May-June issue of SCOUTING MAGAZINE.) However, we should not stop at a once-a-year attention to our American heritage. We should use it in our pack meetings, troop outings, and post activities. Take the Scouts on the cover, for instance. You can sense their respect for the flag, their love for America. You can tell by their bearing and their rapt attention. There are probably even some old-fashioned goose bumps and chills down the spine there somewhere, too. As Scouters, let us build and maintain that spirit of pride in America and its flag that needs strengthening in some parts of our land and of our citizenry.
