Item description
Grosset Dunlap. Copyright 1957. First printing done in 1958. This is a first edition, Farah-coded 1958A-1.
#35 in the series. Art by Rudy Nappi. Original 20-chapter text. "Digger" endpapers. 184 pages.
The actual author using the Stratemeyer Syndicate pseudonym of "Carolyn Keene" was Harriet Stratemeyer Adams. Funny note: this is the book wherein Nancy trades her "golden locks" for "titian" hair due to the printer's error of using the wrong shade on her hair. Ever after, Nancy is no longer a blonde. Nancy's sleuthing pal Bess, who's supposed to be overweight but never looks it in illustrations, is able to keep her blond hair.
Pretty good wraparound dust jacket, with some edgewear, but no tearing, at front fold. Back fold is very good.
Lists to itself in pre-text title list. Dana Girls ad on rear dust jacket, for By the Light of the Study Lamp.
No writing/markings or storage grundge. Spine slant exists, but it's a tight spine with no loose, stained or torn pages.
For a book over 60 years old, this is a very nice book, obviously well cared for. Lovely blue tweed book.
Bad news for NY residents - an 8.75% sales tax applies.
