Item description
(3) Three Antique photographs including (2) two cabinet photos and (1) one pre-1920 real photo postcard (RPPC) featuring members of the Neaves family of Keene, New Hampshire. The largest image depicts a teenage female Mildred H. Neaves (married name Goss), and a smaller cabinet photo is of Percis Irene Neaves (married name Gagne). Both cabinet photos were taken in studios in Keene, New Hampshire. The RPPC of the Neaves children identifies them as "Manard Scripture (oldest) and Francis Neaves Bolster. It is possible that Manard is actually Maynard. And since Frances is the correct female spelling, it is most likely the person who wrote the IDs on the back made a mistake with this name as well. There is no photographer or location credited to this RPPC studio portrait. The largest of these photos measures approximately 7 x 11 including mount. Condition: These are original photographs, not copies or reproductions. The large folder-style cabinet photo of Mildred has edge and corner wear to the folder mount, but the image is in excellent condition. The cabinet photo of Percis is light in contrast and has some spotting of the mount. The RPPC of the children is in excellent condition. Comments: An on-line genealogy search reveals that Mildred H. Neaves Goss was born in 1896 in Keene, NH and died there on September 1, 1988. She was the daughter of Burpee H. Neaves (1872-1930) and Mary Nettie Perham (1872-1963). She was married to John J. Goss (1895-1975). She had a sister named Vera A. Neaves Jennings (1895-1992). Percis Irene Neaves Gagne was born April 6, 1907 in New Hampshire, and died June 25, 1996 in Keene, NH. Her parents were Willard Neaves and Essie Rogers. She married Leo Anthony Gagne (1898-1971) on June 21, 1941 in Middlesex, Massachusetts. She is buried in West Swanzey, NH.
