Item description
A Vogue Paris Original 1601…a Misses’ Jacket, Skirt and Pants Sewing Pattern in Size 10.
The pattern is uncut and in original folds. The instructions are there. The envelope is in good condition with light tanning, dirt smudges, tiny tears and a store stamp. The envelope flap is still attached but the lower portion has been cut off. There is no copyright date but following the guide this pattern is 1977.
In 1945, the House of Balmain opened. Among Balmain’s many clients during the 1960s/70s were Queen Sirikit of Thailand, the 1968 Winter Olympics, TWA and Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. Blamain designed the first uniform worn by a female pilot for Air France. In 1980, designing for the play Happy New Year achieved a nomination for the Tony Award and won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Costume Design. Additional Broadway credits include Sophia Loren’s costumes for The Millionairess (1960) and Josephine Baked for her 1964 revue. The fashion house was referred to in the The Millionairess’s poster, which promoted the film as: "The sultry story of the beautiful babe in the Balmain gown who pants for romance". Balmain also costume designed for sixteen films; some actresses in these films were Vivien Leigh, Mae West and Brigitte Bardot. Peter Sarstedt’s 1969 hit single Where Do You Go To (My Lovely) contains the line: "Your clothes are all made by Balmain".

All patterns are vintage items and sold…AS IS. Although I maintain a smoke-free and a pet-free studio, I have no control over where items have been previously. I attempt to represent my goods as honestly as possible, but sometimes something will get by. If you have any doubts about an item, E-MAIL ME! I want to make sure that you will be pleased with your purchase. I will make a refund as merchandise credit; buyer pays for return shipments.
Pattern comes in a zip 2 mil. plastic bag and is shipped in an envelope with a cardboard insert. The zip bag is great for storing the pattern!
Please note that I count the pattern pieces unless factory folded, assess the pattern’s condition and press the pattern as necessary. You will never purchase a pattern from me with “It looks like it’s all there” or ‘Pieces need pressing’.
