Item description
This little perpetual calendar was issued to someone from Chrysler Corporation for their work with the Chrysler Corporation Turbine Research Project. It is a 27 year calendar running from 1962 to 1989 according to the information on the back. It was manufactured by Anderson Sons of Westfield Massachusetts. The front has enameling is black and red. It is very interesting. It is about 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. Chrysler put a lot of time and money trying to get a gasoline turbine in a car. In 1954 they had successful road testing of a 54 Plymouth and demonstrated it at some point in 1954 and in 1955 put the same basic engine in a 1955 Plymouth which was used for driving evaluation tests. A 1956 Plymouth made a transcontinental trip from NY to LA. In 1958 the newest engine was tried in a 1959 model and improvements had been made in economy and performance. In 1962 three models of turbine powered vehicles were exhibited at the Chicago Auto Show. There were a number of cars built and were assigned to drivers to do evaluations. Each driver had the car for 3 months, did an evaluation, and it was handed off to another driver. The bottom line is that Chrysler never sold a single turbine powered car by the end of the 60's, but did receive an award for its work in 1962, probably resulting in the issuance of these perpetual calendars in 1962. The within information was info released by Chrysler Corporation. 2014's calendar is equivalent to 1969, 1975 and 1986 in the event you want to carry it.
