Lupton was one of a number of publishers who provided inexpensive editions of the classics to those who couldn't afford to buy them in their original editions. Though the books contain no dates, I've been able to date them as follows: DAVID COPPERFIELD - circa 1893; CHILD'S HISTORY OF ENGLAND -- between 1894 and 1899. COPPERFIELD also has a number of nice illustrations. The books are complete (except for a missing blank free front end paper in HISTORY) -- no text is missing, no pages are loose. There is spine and corner wear on COPPERFIELD, shelf wear on the lower edge of HISTORY and the pages of both are yellowed. There is a former owner's name writtem at the front of each. Nice reading copies!
