Item description
Antique Photograph in cabinet-style folder of a young girl and her baby brother. Identified on reverse side as Mildred C. Griffiths (age 7 years, 8 months) and Arthur C. Griffiths (age 9 months). An on-line genealogy search shows that Mildred was born in 1923 in Massachusetts. She married Everett Sidney Hallberg. She passed away on October 15, 1981 in Boston. This photo is a "Childtrait by Bachrach" from the studio of Louis Fabian Bachrach, Jr. in Newton, Massachusetts. Measures approximately 6 x 10 including mount. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. It is in very good condition except the image is somewhat faded. Comments: Louis Fabian Bachrach, Jr. (April 9, 1917 - February 26, 2010) was an American photographer, known for portraits of celebrities, politicians, presidents and other prominent individuals. He was professionally known as Fabian. Bachrach was best known for a portrait of Senator John F. Kennedy, which was later used as his official photograph after he was elected President in 1960. Bachrach's family, who own Bachrach Studios, has been in the commercial photography business for more than 140 years. Bachrach Studios is believed to be the world's oldest continuously operating photography studio in the world. His paternal grandfather, David Bachrach, Jr., founded Bachrach Studios in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1868. He had previously photographed Abraham Lincoln during his trip to Gettysburg in 1863 during the U.S. Civil War.
