Item description
A CANTICLE FOR LEIBOWITZ
by Walter M. Miller, Jr.
J. B. Lippincott Company, First Edition, Third Impression, 1960
Condition: Very Good Plus in Very Good Minus dust jacket
This post-apocalyptic chronicle of beauty and tenderness, of violence and hatred, of despair and humor -- and Miller's only novel published during his lifetime -- won the Hugo Award and is widely considered one of the finest science fiction novels ever written. This copy is the stated Third Impression; the dust jacket, which was changed after the First Printing, still retains "Second Printing" at the bottom of the front flap. (Most definitions of book terms state that "Printing" and "Impression" are interchangeable.) Just slight bumping on cover corners and bottom page edges; small staining on a page or two; moderate toning on inside margins of pages, otherwise lightly toned; a patch of light chafing on rear endpapers; intact binding, though front section not as tightly bound as most of the book. The jacket has short edge tears and some other light general wear, including at fold corners; some darkening and one small stain on underside of jacket; the price is not clipped on the front flap. A very early printing of a classic novel.
