The family legend tells that the tradition started in 1770 when my great-great grandfather came back from his Italian trip (since every Transylvanian craftsmen at that time went to Europe to learn and experience new ways to create). We still build the boxes based on the same design that my ancestor bring back from Sorrento, Italy, but the design evolved. My grandfather, László 'Kossuth' Antal is oldest Hungarian Puzzle Box maker in Kalotaszeg, and one of the last Mohicans.
