FRONT COVER
"THE WEAVER" from a painting by Ted De Grazia. De Grazia, Tucson artist whose fame has extended far beyond the borders of his native state, returns often to Navajoland not only for artistic inspiration but because he loves the people and their land. In this painting he has tried to catch the color, the dignity and the nobility of a simple Navajo weaver patiently preparing the colored yarn which she will eventually weave into a rug of great beauty.
OPPOSITE PAGE
"DEEP IN THE HEART OF NAVAJOLAND" BY LA VERA AND FELIX DUNBAR. Despite the paved roads and the wave of modernity sweeping Navajoland, the inquiring photographer, pushing into the back country, can come upon such scenes as this, reminding one the horse is still an integral part of Navajo life.
