Valley Cottage School New York - Graduating class in 1917 and 50th Annivesary Celebration in 1967 The Valley Cottage school was built around 1840 in Rockland County, New York. The first photo was taken in 1917 and shows standing in the back row, left to right: Helen Raffo, teacher Miss Castle, Evelyn Anderson, T.M.S., and Emma Kess. Seated in the front row, left to right are: Mary Pascali and Nan Huffman. The photo measures 5 x 7, and with the mat 8 x 10. The photo was mounted by Terhune Art Studion in Haverstraw, NY. The second photo was taken on February 15th,1967 on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of their graduation. The participants are identified on the back as: Evelyn Anderson Polhemus, Emma Kess Steyerer, Hellen Raffo Raggi, and Nan Huffman Alexander. Mary Pascali was missing. The event was hosted by the PTA, and the handwritten note identifies the school as the Valley Cottage Grammar School. The photo measures 8 x 10. Included is a manila envelope that the second photo was in from the USDA Extension Service located at the New York State Colleges of Agriculture and Home Economics, Roberts Hall, Itaca, NY addressed to Mrs. Henry Steyerer.
