Item description
St. Catherine of Sienna ? Carlo Dolci ? Catholic Art Print ? Archival Quality
We are in love with this image of Catherine of Sienna. She was a medieval nun whose persuasive words and clarity of thought moved thousands to join the cause of Christ and convinced the Pope to return to Rome from Avignon.Author of a great theological work, Dialogue, she has been declared a Doctor of the Church. She died in 1380, at the age of thirty-three.Carlo Dolci was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. He once stated his "firm intention to paint only works that would inspire the fruits of Christian piety in those who saw them." He specialized in devotional works, and his works were extremely sought after during his lifetime. We have extensively restored this masterpiece to make it new. It's by the same artist who did the Blue Madonna in our shop. Carlo Dolci, 1616 -1686, Florence. This painting circa 1665.Media: oil on cedar panel; Dimensions: H 24.4 x W 18.1 cm; Location: Dulwich Picture Gallery, London** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt. - Acid-free paper- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.- Cardboard backer- Above story of the art- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag. Thanks for your interest! Thanks!Sue John"In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the Church needs art." ~ St. Pope John Paul IIOriginal image is out-of-copyright. Descriptive text and image alterations (hence the whole new image) by Sue Kouma Johnson - CatholicArtAndJewelry.
