The Holy Family by Their Home ? "Within the Gate" by Herbert Arnould Olivier ? Catholic Art Print ? Catholic Gift ? Archival Quality
For most of us, a life is made up of so many small, quiet, and often beautiful moments. In this sweet picture by Herbert Arnould Olivier, we see the Holy Family one late afternoon, Mary holding and chatting to the baby, with Joseph kneeling before them, fashioning a stick to hold up a lily. They are in the midst of lilies, which symbolize purity. And if you look closely, you'll see that the stick Joseph is using is actually a small cross. But that is a long time away, and at the moment things are tranquil and beautiful. Herbert Arnould Olivier (1861-1952) was a British artist, who, according to the Tate Museum, was best known for his portrait and landscape paintings. He had a long and successful career in art. He was the uncle of the actor Lawrence Olivier. This picture was painted in 1927 and thus is out of copyright. We have worked on this image to take out flaws in the file, and as such, our afternoon of tinkering is in copyright, hence our version of the picture. The worker is worth his wage. We decorate our vestibule at our parish, St. Mary's in Lincoln, with Catholic art we frame. This picture is going to go by one of the doors from the vestibule into the sanctuary, echoing the door in the picture, as we go from darkness into the light and life of Jesus and Mary. ** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border all around the image of about .5" for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17" and 16x20". For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use only 0.5" margins. The ratio of the rectangle of the painting does not match the rectangles of the paper, so these figures are all approximate! The white space gives the framed picture a finished look without using a matt. - Acid-free paper- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.- Cardboard backer- Above story of the art- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag. Thanks for your interest! Thanks!Sue John"In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the Church needs art." ~ St. Pope John Paul IIOriginal image is out-of-copyright.
