Item description
Stunning hand painted and signed plates by English maker
Marked B.W.M. Co. England, we believe this is Brown, Westhead, Moore Co., who worked in Staffordshire between 1862 and 1904, including making game plates for companies like Tiffany and Ovington
Porcelain plates with pierced lattice and ruffled border
Hand painted game bird border embellished by heavy gilt work
Signed by J. Birbeck
We believe the artist is Jame Birbeck, who produced items for manufactures like Cauldon and George Jones that retailed at shops like Tiffany's and Gilman Collamore, there was also another artist named Joseph Birbeck who specialized in painting fruit on English porcelain during the same late Victorian early Edwardian period
Set of 12
Measures about 9-1/2" diameter, dessert or cabinet sized
Produced for the Gilman Collamore FIFTH AVE 30th Street New York City
Pre-owned, good condition, no cracks or chips, we think theses were probably used for cabinet display rather than for eating
Provenance: Pasadena, California estate of Jacqueline and Norman Blank
Item Location: Back Warehouse, Right, 5th Bay, 3rd Shelf
